As many of you are aware, Microsoft has experienced a large incident due to a CrowdStrike update. CrowdStrike is a company that produces security tools, and one of their updates had a flaw which has caused worldwide impact.
Unfortunately, the criminals are aware of this too, and they are actively attempting to take advantage of the situation. There are reports of emails and phone calls from people impersonating both Microsoft and CrowdStrike, attempting to get users to grant access to their systems or give sensitive data to the caller.
Remember, the criminals thrive on fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Any time a caller or an email expresses extreme urgency or uses tactics to make you believe your inaction will cause you harm, it’s wise to slow down. That is almost never the approach from legitimate businesses.
